July 2025

At last a little rain and the big blocking high seems to have moved. Fields are starting to green up, but a long way to go. Thankfully we are not milking cows. We weaned last week, and lambs are continuing to do well. Certainly the worm burden should have been reduced during this drought. We have not to date had to worm, and worm count remains acceptable. It will need watching now the weather is looking to be more changeable.

Blue Tongue looks to be still some way from us, but I have vaccinated all the shearlings and tups for sale. This doesn’t in practice help buyers from Wales. (The testing and reporting protocols make it nearly impossible to do it in the timeframe required). If anyone knows of a way round this please let me know!

We currently have around 90 shearlings left and most of the tups for sale. See Signet’s website – Rams for sale. https://signetdata.com/sheep-search/sheep-for-sale-search-result?page=1&saleTypeId=10&breedId=1063&orderBy=FBN&order=asc&sex=M

If you want to select shearlings by their EBVs, please let me know and we can discuss.
